LEGO Pokémon Rumors: $650 Buildable Bulbasaur, Squirtle & Charmander Set
One of the most exciting LEGO Pokémon rumors for 2026 suggests that fans could soon be building the franchise’s most iconic starter trio: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. According to early reports, LEGO Pokémon Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur (72153) is expected to include 6,832 pieces, retail for $649.99, and release on February 27, 2026—the 30th anniversary of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan.
If true, this set would mark a huge debut for the LEGO Pokémon theme, offering one of the largest builds we’ve seen in a licensed LEGO line. The first-generation starters are legendary in their own right, and launching the theme with these beloved characters would be a natural way to kick things off.
Two (or Three) Possible Directions
The rumored buildable Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander could take inspiration from a few different approaches we’ve seen from other Pokémon products in the past.
Large-Scale Figures (MEGA Style): MEGA’s Jumbo Pokémon line recreates characters like Bulbasaur and Charmander in large, detailed builds using fewer than 1,000 pieces. A LEGO take on this idea—scaled up to nearly 7,000 pieces—could create incredibly detailed, poseable display models.
Dynamic Dioramas (Pokémon Gallery Style): The Pokémon Company has also produced collectible Gallery Figures, which show each Pokémon in an action pose alongside terrain and effects, like Bulbasaur unleashing Vine Whip or Charmander’s tail blazing mid-attack. LEGO might take a similar approach by incorporating scenery and dynamic builds into each model.
Something Entirely New: Of course, LEGO often adds its own unique twist to licensed builds. With so many pieces and such a high price tag, it’s possible this set could blend large-scale characters with diorama-style environments, or even feature interactive elements.
A Competitive Market
One thing to note: MEGA released its Jumbo Pokémon builds as recently as 2023, which may create some overlap with LEGO’s rumored models. However, LEGO’s signature brick-built style and higher piece counts could set their figures apart in scale and detail. On the other hand, Pokémon Gallery figures haven’t been available for several years, leaving an open space in the market for dynamic display pieces of the starter trio.
Looking Ahead
While the LEGO Pokémon theme is confirmed for 2026, all details about specific sets remain unconfirmed at this time. The potential for a massive, centerpiece build featuring Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander is certainly exciting, but we’ll need to wait for official announcements from LEGO before anything is set in stone.
For now, it’s clear that LEGO Pokémon sets coming in 2026 could bring something truly special for fans and collectors alike.
