LEGO Pick a Brick Standard Elements Removed in US and Canada
Bad news for LEGO fans in North America—thousands of Standard LEGO Pick a Brick (PAB) elements have been removed from LEGO’s online service in the US and Canada, leaving only Bestseller parts available for order.
The change was first spotted by New Elementary, who noted that over 2,500 LEGO pieces have disappeared from the service. Standard elements typically ship from LEGO’s Billund warehouse in Denmark, while Bestseller elements are stocked in US warehouses, which explains why Bestsellers remain available.
This shift is likely tied to the end of the de minimis exemption, removed by an executive order from the Trump administration. Previously, imports valued under $800 could enter the US without tariffs. From August 29, 2025, those goods are now subject to customs duties, adding a 15% tariff on Standard LEGO Pick a Brick shipments from Europe.
Because of uncertainty around how these new tariffs will be collected, several postal carriers—including DHL, which handles LEGO’s Billund orders—have announced temporary suspensions on shipping to the US. Unfortunately, this has impacted Canada as well, as LEGO appears to treat North America as a single shipping region, despite Canada not imposing new tariffs.
Community Reactions: Fans Frustrated, Carts Wiped, and Canada Caught in the Crossfire
On Reddit, LEGO fans didn’t hold back their disappointment as the news broke. Many North American LEGO fans reported that their carefully curated Pick a Brick carts were suddenly emptied. One user wrote:
“I just checked and my whole cart was emptied except some string.”
Others expressed regret at not placing orders sooner:
“My whole Standard cart was wiped out… regret not ordering now. Had a lot of dual molded legs in there for Star Wars figure boot upgrades, looks like they’re all gone now.”
Canadian fans were especially vocal about their frustration at being swept up in a policy that wasn’t even their government’s doing:
“Why Canada? We didn’t even do anything :(”
As one commenter explained, it’s likely because LEGO’s North American distribution is tied together:
“The Canadian S@H unit is operated under the US Unit. I don't believe there are any LEGO Warehouses in Canada.”
Meanwhile, BrickLink and BrickOwl sellers are also scrambling. Some reported cutting off shipments to the US entirely before the August 29 deadline, while others fear pending orders won’t make it through customs:
“Most Canadian sellers I know along with myself have stopped shipping to the USA as of the 23rd. BrickOwl has even straight up blocked the ability for American buyers to purchase from outside of the country.”
Whether it’s canceled orders, lost MOCs, or simply the unfair treatment of Canadian buyers, the fan consensus is clear: this is a major blow to the North American LEGO community, especially heading into the holiday season.
For now, North American LEGO fans can still order Bestseller elements, but the loss of Standard parts is a major blow for builders who rely on unique and harder-to-find LEGO pieces. Many International Bricklink sellers are also pausing shipments to the US as carriers navigate the new rules.
The LEGO Group has not yet issued an official statement, but we’ll update as soon as more information becomes available.
